Our Programs
Community Caregivers United, Inc. creates safe, inclusive spaces where youth and
families are supported, seen, and connected. Each program responds directly to a real
community need in Harlem. We focus on creativity, family connection, basic needs
support, and joyful community experiences.
1 / Harlem Youth Creative Enrichment & Performance Program
The Harlem Youth Creative Enrichment & Performance Program is a community-centered initiative designed to uplift, empower, and amplify the voices of young people. Rooted in direct feedback from youth in Upper Harlem, this program was created to address a consistent need for more inclusive and equitable opportunities in creative spaces. Many young people shared that they often feel overlooked or excluded from performance opportunities, which can impact their confidence, motivation, and sense of self-worth.
In response, Community Caregivers United developed a program that prioritizes access, inclusion, and growth for all participants. Serving youth ages 10–18, the program offers a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where creativity is encouraged and every voice is valued.
Participants explore and develop their talents through a variety of creative outlets, including dance, music, visual arts, singing, and spoken word. The program is intentionally structured to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to participate, build confidence, and showcase their abilities through performances at community events.

2 / The Family and Youth Outdoor Wellness and Community Connect Program
Many families within our community face financial hardships that limit access to safe, enriching, and affordable recreational opportunities. Rising costs associated with transportation, admission fees, meals, and outdoor activities often prevent families from participating in experiences that support emotional wellness, social connection, and quality family time. As a result, many youth and families experience isolation, stress, and limited opportunities to engage in positive community environments that promote healthy development and meaningful relationships.
Underserved families frequently lack access to organized outdoor programs and wellness-centered activities that encourage recreation, relaxation, and community engagement. Many children have never participated in structured outdoor events beyond school settings or experienced activities designed to strengthen family relationships and improve emotional well-being. Despite these challenges, families consistently express a strong desire for safe, welcoming, and affordable opportunities to connect, recharge, and spend meaningful time together.
Program Description

The program removes financial and transportation barriers so families can enjoy recreation, meals, and meaningful time together. It strengthens family bonds, supports youth emotional well-being, and helps families feel included, supported, and connected within the community.
3 / Connected Play: Youth Gaming & Enrichment Program
In Upper Harlem, many young people are growing up in households where financial resources are fully allocated to essential needs such as rent, food, transportation, and utilities. As a result, access to recreational opportunities—whether it be gaming systems, structured activities, or shared social experiences—is often out of reach. Despite these limitations, youth remain deeply aware of and interested in these experiences, engaging with them through conversations, online content, and peer interactions, while lacking direct access themselves.
This gap extends beyond material access and impacts a young person’s sense of inclusion, belonging, and connection. Feelings of isolation are often heightened during the holiday season, when disparities become more visible. While many communities celebrate through gatherings, entertainment, and shared experiences, some youth are left without opportunities to participate, reinforcing a sense of exclusion during a time meant for connection and joy.
Program Description
The Connected Play: Youth Gaming & Enrichment Program was developed to address these challenges by creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment where youth can connect, play, and feel valued. Led by Community Caregivers United, this program goes beyond gaming to focus on building relationships, fostering teamwork, and promoting positive social interaction.
Designed for youth ages 10–18, the program offers a structured holiday enrichment experience in partnership with local youth agencies. Participants are introduced to professionally organized gaming environments, complete with equipment, setup, and guided interactive play facilitated by experienced gaming providers. For many youth, this is their first opportunity to engage in collaborative gaming within a safe and supportive setting.
By combining recreation with mentorship and community engagement, the program creates a space where young people can build confidence, develop social skills, and experience a sense of belonging—transforming play into a meaningful and memorable experience.
4 / Backpack & School Supplies Distribution Program
Each year, many children in Harlem begin the school year without the essential supplies needed to fully participate and succeed in the classroom. For families already navigating the rising cost of living, purchasing items such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other school materials can present a significant financial burden. As households prioritize basic needs like housing, food, and utilities, back-to-school preparation often requires difficult trade-offs.
The impact of this gap extends beyond academics. Children who start the school year without the necessary supplies may experience decreased confidence, limited participation, and a diminished sense of belonging among their peers. These challenges can affect both their educational experience and overall well-being. Addressing this need is not only about providing materials, but also about promoting equity, confidence, and a strong start to the academic year.
Program Description
The Back-to-School Backpack and School Supplies Distribution Program was created to ensure that every child has the tools they need to begin the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Led by Community Caregivers United, this annual initiative supports over 200 school-aged children and their families in Harlem.
Through this program, students receive backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies, helping to remove barriers to classroom participation and academic success. In addition to distribution, the program includes a welcoming community event that provides families with a supportive, positive, and engaging environment.
By meeting both immediate and long-term needs, the program helps transform a potentially stressful experience into one of excitement and empowerment—ensuring that every child begins the school year on equal footing with the confidence to succeed.
5 / Community Engagement & Volunteer Recognition Program
Volunteers are the foundation of strong, thriving communities, yet their contributions often go unrecognized. Throughout the year, many individuals dedicate their time and energy to supporting families, assisting at events, and ensuring programs run smoothly—frequently without acknowledgment or opportunities to recharge. This ongoing commitment, while invaluable, can lead to fatigue and a lack of meaningful moments for connection, appreciation, and restoration.
In addition, community members and families often have limited access to safe, welcoming spaces where they can gather simply to enjoy one another’s company without obligation or financial burden. Creating intentional opportunities for appreciation and connection is essential to sustaining volunteer engagement, strengthening relationships, and fostering a sense of belonging within the community.
Program Description
Help Us Strengthen Community Through Connection and Recognition.
At Community Caregivers United, Inc., we are building a space where volunteers are not
only needed but truly valued. Every day, people in our community give their time to help others. They support families, care for neighbors, mentor youth, and show up when it matters most. Most of this work happens quietly, without recognition.
Our Community Engagement & Volunteer Recognition Program was created to change that.
Through community gatherings, volunteer appreciation events, youth engagement, and
wellness activities in our community garden, we create space for people to feel seen,
supported, and connected.
This is more than an event program. It is a place where community becomes real again,
where people come together, relationships grow, and service is honored. Your support
helps us continue this work.
